Overview
Responsible for sourcing, monitoring and managing a portfolio of Event Driven hedge fund investments as well as co-investments in public and private securities, with the objective of outperforming the relevant benchmarks while operating within the defined investment guidelines. Responsible for manager sourcing, evaluation, qualitative and quantitative analysis, style analysis, and legal and investment aspects of hedge fund investments. Also in charge of sourcing and assessing the risk/reward trade-offs in co-investment opportunities sourced from hedge fund managers and developing the investment case for such situations.
Responsibilities
Evaluates and filters out specific information on leads on specific managers. Includes carrying out enquiries on profiles of managers and their funds through periodic updates from sources that lend confidence to arriving at a judgment.
Carries out thorough review of managers through regular interactions or through reports on managers, to reinforce confidence that the manager follows the underlying principles of fair representation and full disclosure in areas like valuation and consistency of internal policies. Audits reported data to ensure accuracy and confidence.
Forecasts and reports on long and short term economic and business trends directly affecting alternative investment assets and opportunities. Uses such forecasts to develop asset allocation strategies to track and outperform the benchmark.
Remains in tune with existing and emerging equity/credit event managers and actively monitors developments in the space. Includes keeping up to date with current market events in global equity and credit markets.
Determines strategy characteristics and analyses the subset of hedge fund strategies in the event driven market that includes fixed income, convertible, merger and capital structure arbitrage as well as distressed securities, high yield debt, and special opportunities funds.
Produces and applies risk control measures to the strategies and portfolios and analyses correlations among trading strategies and portfolios by creating portfolio optimisation models using different risk measurement techniques such as VaR methods, scenario analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations as well as applications such as Risk Metrics.
Employs various valuation methods to price the different financial securities and instruments. Explains the implications of leading and lagging economic and financial indicators on the strategies/positions of managers in the portfolio.
Identifies and recommends specific software packages based on business requirements. Manipulates and recommends necessary upgrades on existing packages for asset allocation, manager monitoring, performance evaluation and risk control.
Calculates investment statistics such as returns and risk factors for different periods for different strategies and portfolios strategies and identifies strengths and weaknesses of the statistics.
Evaluates equity and credit co-investment opportunities from managers including investments in public and private securities. Conducts appropriate due diligence on such situations including modelling companies, speaking to management, reading financial reports and generally developing an investment case for such investments.
Manages the activities of assigned personnel and performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.

In this role you will oversee a selection of private market programs and perform various program-related activities while working closely with investment professionals and client relationship teams.
Responsibilities:-
